JUNE/JULY WEEK 27
This week, we will finish Paul’s letter to Titus and then get started on the Gospel of John. Don’t forget to check out the Rooted Facebook page for a bit more discussion on each chapter.
Discussion Questions:
• What is the hope we have as believers? (Titus 2:13)
• As believers, what should we devote ourselves to? (Titus 3:8)
• Who is the Word? And what does John have to say about him? (John 1:1-3, 14)
• John 2:14-16 records Jesus as clearing the temple of the money-changers and those selling animals. Why did he do this? And what should we take away from it?
• What does it mean to be born again? (John 3:1-3)
Some Answers from Last Week's Questions:
• What does Paul mean by not being ashamed? And what is he not ashamed of? (2 Tim. 1:12) - Paul here is talking about his suffering for Christ. Rather than being ashamed of it, he took pride in the fact that he was able to suffer for Christ.
• How can you present yourself to God as an approved worker? (2 Tim. 2:15) - By rightly handling the word of God. This would include interpreting it correctly and applying it to your own life.
• What does the Scripture do for us? (2 Tim. 3:16-17) – It helps us to grow in maturity and equips us for service in the kingdom.
• What is significant about the mention of Mark in 2 Timothy 4:11? – It tells us that Paul’s opinion of Mark had changed dramatically. The rift between them in Acts 15:36-41 had been healed.
• What does it mean to profess God but deny Him by our works? (Titus 1:16) – It refers to those who say all the right things, but whose lives do not reflect their words. Their lives say they do not know God.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, as I read Your Word this week, help me not just learn more about You, but know You more deeply. Thank You for the hope I have in Jesus - the Word who became flesh and came to bring me life. Search my heart and show me anything that needs to be made new. Help my faith be seen not only in what I believe, but in how I live, love, and serve others. Open my eyes to who Jesus is, and give me the courage to follow Him more closely each day. Amen.
