JUNE WEEK 26

This week, we will work our way through 2 Timothy and get started with Titus. Don’t forget to check out the Rooted Facebook page for a bit more discussion on each chapter.

Discussion Questions:

• What does Paul mean by not being ashamed? And what is he not ashamed of? (2 Tim. 1:12)

• How can you present yourself to God as an approved worker? (2 Tim. 2:15)

• What does the Scripture do for us? (2 Tim. 3:16-17)

• What is significant about the mention of Mark in 2 Timothy 4:11?

• What does it mean to profess God but deny Him by our works? (Titus 1:16)

Some Answers from Last Week's Questions:

• What is the significance of the different kinds of prayers Paul mentions in 1 Timothy 2:1-4? – Pray for yourself, for others, and with thanksgiving. There is no limit to what you can pray about.

• In 1 Timothy 3:1-7, Paul gives some attributes or qualifications for a person desiring to lead a church. How might these “qualifications” relate to the rest of us? – If they are the qualifications for those who lead us, should we not be following their example and living up to the same standard?

• Why is spiritual training better than physical training? (1 Timothy 4:7-9) – Physical training is only good for this life. Our spiritual training is useful both for this life and the life to come. My life here matters for eternity.

• How should we deal with the moral failure of a church leader? (1 Timothy 5:19-21) Why? – Investigate first. If the allegation is true, a public rebuke is in order. This will show others the seriousness of the issue.

• In 1 Timothy 6:11, Paul tells us to flee from some things and pursue others. What should we run from? And what should we chase after? – Run from the desire for riches and other ungodly lifestyles. Focus on developing in “righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, and gentleness” instead.

Prayer: As I read through 2 Timothy and Titus this week, help me to stand firm in my faith and never be ashamed of the gospel. Teach me through Your Word, correct what needs changing in my life, and shape me into the person You are calling me to be. Help me not only to profess You with my words, but to honor You with my actions. May my life reflect Your grace, truth, and faithfulness every day. In Jesus' name, amen.
