MARCH WEEK 10
This week will cover James 2-5 and the first chapter of 1 Peter. James will continue to instruct us in how to live godly lives. And 1 Peter writes to a suffering church, encouraging them to remain faithful in the suffering and count themselves blessed.
Don’t forget to check out the Rooted Facebook page for a bit more discussion on each chapter.
Discussion Questions:
• What is the relationship between faith and works? (Jam. 2:17)
• What is the difference between earthly and heavenly wisdom? (Jam. 3:13-18)
• What does James have to say to us concerning making plans for our future? (Jam. 4:13-16)
• What can our prayers do? (Jam. 5:16-18)
• What advantage is there in the trials we face as believers? (1 Pet. 1:6-7)
Some Answers from Last Week's Questions:
• What is the curtain that has been opened for us? (Heb. 10:19-20) – At one level, it is the curtain that closed off the most holy place, where God was. In what Christ has done, that curtain has been removed for us, allowing us to enter God’s presence.
• In Hebrews 11, how many times do you find the formula, “By faith someone did something? What is the significance of this expression? – If I counted right, the expression occurs 17 times. It tells us that faith leads to action.
• What is Hebrews 12:1-2 calling on us to do? – To follow the example of the folks in chapter 11, and so many more. Fixing our eyes on Jesus, and running the race He has laid out for us.
• What sacrifices do we have to offer God? (Heb. 13:15-16) – A sacrifice of praise. And a sacrifice of doing good and sharing.
• Why should we respond to the trials we face with joy? (Jam. 1:2-4) – We should face them with joy, not because they are joyful, but because of what they can produce in our lives.
