MARCH WEEK 12
This week will cover the last two chapters of 2 Peter, the epistle of Jude, and the first two chapters of Philippians.
Don’t forget to check out the Rooted Facebook page for a bit more discussion on each chapter.
Discussion Questions:
• Who are the angels who sinned in 2 Peter 2:4, and what did they do?
• How does Peter say we should live as we wait for the Lord’s return? (2 Peter 3:11-12)
• How does Jude say we should live as we wait for the Lord’s return? (Jude 1:20-21)
• What does Paul mean by “for me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain”? (Phil. 1:21) How should that apply to us today?
• What does Paul mean when he talks about Jesus emptying himself and taking on the form of a servant? (Phil. 2:7)
Some Answers from Last Week's Questions:
• Compare 1 Peter 2:9-10 with Exodus 19:5-6. What does this reveal about Peter's perspective on his Gentile audience? – Gentile believers are a part of God's chosen people, just like the faithful Jews.
• What does it mean always to be prepared to give a defense for the hope that you have? (1 Pet. 3:14-16) – When someone asks you why you are a Christian, be ready with an answer.
• How should we respond to suffering and insult because we are Christians? (1 Pet. 4:12-14) – We should rejoice in the privilege of sharing in Christ’s suffering.
• Who is our adversary, what is he trying to do, and how should we respond? (1 Pet. 5:8-9) – Satan and his minions are opposed to us. Be alert for their attack, and stand firm in Christ.
• How can we guarantee we are fruitful in the Lord’s work? (2 Peter 1:5-8) – by continuing to grow in faith, virtue, knowledge, self-control, steadfastness, godliness, brotherly affection, and love.
