MAY WEEK 20
This week, we will continue our journey through the Acts of the Apostles.
Don’t forget to check out the Rooted Facebook page for a bit more discussion on each chapter.
Discussion Questions:
• How would you respond if you were to suffer because you proclaimed Jesus? (Acts 5:41-42)
• The sixth chapter begins with a conflict within the church in Jerusalem and its resolution. What was the result of the resolved conflict? (Acts 6:7)
• Chapter seven recounts the trial and execution of Stephen. What do you think of his last words as he was being stoned? (Acts 7:60)
• If you were involved in a growing ministry with many people being saved, how would you react to God sending you into the desert? (Acts 8:26)
• Is there anyone you would be surprised to see come to the Lord and have a great public ministry? (Acts 9:15)
Some Answers from Last Week's Questions:
• How important is Jesus’ resurrection? (Luke 24) – It is of the utmost importance. If He was not resurrected, then neither will we. And we have no hope for the future (1 Cor. 15:13-19).
• When is Jesus returning? (Acts 1:6-7) – In God’s own time. A time we are not to know until it arrives.
• What did the early church do? And what were the results? (Acts 2:42-47) – They invested time in Bible study (the apostle’s teaching), fellowship, worship (the breaking of bread), and in prayer. And they grew tremendously.
• What can we learn from Peter’s words to the lame beggar? (Acts 3:6) – We may not have much. But God can work through us to accomplish great things.
• How would you respond if someone (including our government) told you not to talk about Jesus (Acts 4:18-20)? – Hopefully, we would respond like Peter and John and obey God rather than human authority.
Prayer: Father, as I read through Acts this week, give me the same boldness and faithfulness that marked the early church. Help me not to stay silent about Jesus out of fear, comfort, or worry about what others might think. When challenges come, remind me that You are still at work - even in the hard and unexpected places. Give me a heart that is willing to follow wherever You lead, whether it’s into a crowd or into the desert. And Lord, help me never give up on people, because You are still changing lives and calling people to Yourself every day. In Jesus’ name, amen.
