NOVEMBER | WEEK 45
This week, we continue Paul’s letter to the Romans, chapters 11-15. Don’t forget to check out the Rooted Facebook page for a bit more discussion on each chapter.
Discussion Questions:
• What is the significance of Paul’s use of an Olive Tree in Romans 11:11-24?
• Which of Paul’s instructions for Christian living in Romans 12 do you feel is the most challenging for you?
• What does it mean to owe no one anything other than love? (Rom. 13:8)
• Most of chapter 14 is about eating meat sacrificed to an idol. It was something that was morally neutral but could harm your witness to others. What kind of “disputable matters” might we be dealing with today?
• Paul planned on visiting Rome and then on to Spain (Rom. 15:22-24). Do you know if he ever made it to either location?
Some Answers from Last Week's Questions:
• What does baptism picture? (Rom. 6:3-4) – Our death to sin and resurrection to new life in Christ.
• Do you ever feel like Paul in your struggle with sin? (Rom. 7:14-20) - My response: Often! Yours may vary.
• What does it mean to be a joint heir with Christ? (Rom. 8:17) – Galatians 3:24-26 is one potential answer to this. In Christ, we inherit the promise made to Abraham.
• What does it mean that God raised up Pharaoh for a purpose? (Rom. 9:17) – God arranged for that specific man to be the Pharaoh during the Exodus, knowing how he would respond.
• What is required in order to be saved? (Rom 10:9-10) – To confess that Jesus is your Lord and to believe that God raised him from the dead. It involves living with Jesus as your Lord and believing in who Jesus is.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for Your grace and for inviting me to be part of Your family through Jesus Christ. Help me to live each day as a reflection of Your love, offering myself fully to You and allowing You to transform my heart and mind. Teach me to love others sincerely, extend grace when we disagree, and put the needs of others before my own. May my faith be more than just what I believe - may it be seen in how I live, love, and serve others. Amen.
