AUGUST | WEEK 33
This week, we will continue in the Psalms, looking at Psalms 23-27. Don’t forget to check out the Rooted Facebook page for a bit more discussion on each chapter.
Discussion Questions:
• What might the valley of the shadow of death represent? (Psa. 23:4) What comfort can this verse give us?
• Who is it who can stand in the Lord’s presence? (Psa. 24:3-4)
• Why does God teach us and guide us in His way? (Psa. 25:8-9)
• Psalm 26 is what David would have to say to God when he stood before Him. What would you have to say about your life?
• If you could ask the Lord for only one thing, what would it be? (Psa. 27:4)
Some Answers to Last Week's Questions:
• Following the example of Isaiah 63:7, recount all that the Lord has done for you? – Your response is personal. For me, it would include: salvation, family, home, a fellowship of believers, and a way to serve Him.
• What does the potter and clay analogy teach us? (Isa. 64:8) – I am what God has made me to be, the work of the master potter.
• What does Isaiah 65:17-18 picture? – The new heaven and earth and the New Jerusalem. The same thing that is pictured in Revelation 21-22
• What event(s) in the New Testament is (are) pictured in Isaiah 66:18-21? – Pentecost and the spread of the gospel out into the Gentile world.
• What is pictured in Psalm 22:12-18? Hint: see Matthew 27:32-44. – This is a very descriptive image of what crucifixion was like. From a time before crucifixion had been invented.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for being my Shepherd, my Guide, and my Refuge. As I reflect on these psalms, remind me that I never walk through life's darkest valleys alone because You are always with me. Create in me a heart that desires to live with integrity, humbly follow Your ways, and seek Your presence above everything else. Help me to trust You in every season and find my confidence, hope, and joy in You alone. Amen.
