AUGUST  |   WEEK 34

This week, we will continue in the Psalms, looking at Psalms 28-31. We will also get started on the book of Joshua. Don’t forget to check out the Rooted Facebook page for a bit more discussion on each chapter.

Discussion Questions:

• Where can you turn when life seems hard? (Psalms 28:7)

• What kind of natural event is being attributed to God in Psalm 29:3-9?

• What message does Psalm 30:4-5 contain for us?

• What does it mean that our times are in God’s hands? (Psalms 31:15)

• Why does God tell Joshua three times to be strong and courageous? (Josh. 1:6, 7, 9)

Some Answers to Last Week's Questions:

• What might the valley of the shadow of death represent? (Psalms 23:4) What comfort can this verse give us? – It can represent any difficult or challenging time that we go through. I can be sure that, regardless of how bad it might seem, I am not alone.

• Who is it who can stand in the Lord’s presence (Psalms 24:3-4)? – The righteous person who trusts in God, having clean hands and a pure heart.

• Why does God teach us and guide us in His way (Psalms 25:8-9)? – Because God is good. It is His nature to guide and teach those who seek him.

• Psalm 26 is what David would have to say to God when he stood before Him. What would you have to say about your life? – David was sure of his integrity and invited God to test him. What you would say is personal. But I would hope to be able to echo Paul’s words in 2 Timothy 4:7. And to hear God respond with the words of Matthew 25:21.

• If you could ask the Lord for only one thing, what would it be (Psalms 27:4)? – Your answer is personal. For me, it would be to have a greater awareness of His presence.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, when life feels uncertain or difficult, help me remember that You are my strength and my refuge. Teach me to trust that my life and my times are in Your hands. When I feel afraid or unsure of what lies ahead, give me the courage to keep moving forward in faith, knowing that You are with me wherever I go. Amen.
