AUGUST | WEEK 35
This week, we will continue in the book of Joshua, chapters 2-6. Don’t forget to check out the Rooted Facebook page for a bit more discussion on each chapter.
Discussion Questions:
• Why did Rahab help the spies that came to Jericho? (Josh. 2:8-14)
• What was the significance of crossing the Jordan River on dry land? This is not mentioned directly in Joshua 3, but it mirrors an earlier event.
• What value does a memorial offer? (Josh. 4:4-7)
• Who was the man who met Joshua in Joshua 5:13-15?
• Why did God give such strange instructions to Joshua concerning Jericho? (Josh. 6:2-5)
Some Answers to Last Week's Questions:
• Where can you turn when life seems hard? (Psa. 28:7) – To the one who trusts in God; He is our strength and shield. He will help us through whatever we face.
• What kind of natural event is being attributed to God in Psalm 29:3-9? – A thunderstorm.
• What message does Psalm 30:4-5 contain for us? – God’s anger/discipline is temporary. But we can trust that He will never forsake us.
• What does it mean that our times are in God’s hands? (Psa. 31:15) – We can trust that God will work in our lives at the most appropriate time. Not always when we want. But when the time is best.
• Why does God tell Joshua three times to be strong and courageous? (Josh. 1:6, 7, 9) – Joshua had some big shoes to fill when replacing Moses. And he had a big task ahead of him in leading Israel in the conquest of Canaan. It would be easy to be intimidated.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for going before me and reminding me of Your faithfulness. When I face uncertainty, give me courage to trust and obey You, even when I don’t understand the way forward. Help me remember what You have done and trust You with what comes next. Amen.
