MARCH WEEK 14
This week marks the beginning of quarter 2 of our 4-year journey through the Old Testament. The next eight weeks will be spent in the first half of the book of Isaiah. If you have fallen behind in your readings, this would be a good time to jump in and start again.
Discussion Questions:
As you read this week, here are some questions to help you explore the truths contained in these chapters.
• What two responses can we make to God’s call to repentance? (Isaiah 1:18-20)
• When are the last days? And what can we expect to happen then? (Isaiah 2:1-4)
• Why is Judah facing destruction? (Isaiah 3:6-9)
Some Answers to Last Week's Questions:
• Do you ever contemplate the majesty of God’s creation and where you fit into it? (Psalm 8:3-6) How does that make you feel? – It makes me feel insignificant and honored.
• Psalm 9:7-8 refers to God reigning over the world with righteousness and judging with equity. How can you reconcile that with the condition the world is in today? – That judgment does not occur immediately, or even in this lifetime, does not mean it will never happen. God’s judgment is not according to our timetable. But it is certain.
• Psalm 10:2-11 speaks to the evil person who disregards God’s truths and oppresses the innocent. What awaits such a person? (Psalm 10:12-18) – They will be called to account for their wickedness and pay the penalty for it.
• How aware is God of all that goes on in our world? (Psalm 11:4-6) – There is nothing that happens in our world that He is not fully aware of. We can hide nothing from Him.
Prayer: God, thanks for meeting me in Your Word today. Help me not just hear You, but actually respond - soften my heart, change what needs to change, and lead me to live Your way this week. Amen.
